Going through a body detox or even changing to a detox diet lifestyle was much more rare in the past. Now, people are learning for themselves what they can do to heal their bodies after their doctor tells them there is no cure.

They begin to realize that the body is meant to be self-healing and start to explore cleansing as a means to healing.

How long should a body detox diet be?

You want to consider planning for at least 3 weeks. This will give your body time to complete the all-important first cleansing cycle. It will also help you to form a new habit that will help continue to help you in months to come.

5 simple steps to a healthier you:

1 — No cleanse will work without good hydration. Dehydration is the result of not drinking enough water. Sounds simple, but most people don’t get enough water. You need to drink half your weight in fluid ounces, it’s best to use filtered water.

2 — Your body ph is on the alkaline side and your body detox diet is not complete without adding a lot of organic green vegetables. In contrast to the acid forming processed foods, you will find vegetables are almost always alkaline.

3 — Consume raw foods as much as you can. Studies have shown that the white cell count in the blood goes up whenever cooked food is eaten, demonstrating that the body perceives this as a threat. Work with your body during the body detox diet.

4 — One way to accelerate the cleanse is through juice fasting. Again, green vegetables are best and avoid sugary juices. Drinking only juices once a week is much easier on the body than a long fast.

5 — Moving beyond a detox diet, well, you need to move. Resistance training with weights is one of the best ways to move your muscles, build strength and eliminate the toxins. But even getting out and walking is great. Get hot and sweaty and help your body eliminate the toxins.

When you are cleansing, your body will be eliminating toxins that have been stored, sometimes for years. Think of all the ways you eliminate.

The incredible human body knows very well how to cleanse itself. The problems come when we don’t allow it to finish. By labeling skin rashes or runny noses as “illness”, we then proceed to do anything to have it stop.
