Getting a person or company to install your GPS vehicle tracking system can be super expensive. The cost of having someone do this often makes it impossible to do. Doing the install yourself can save you thousands.
If you learn how to install these systems well, you will be able to do the entire system in less than an hour. This will help you for the cases where you need to do the install covertly.
Getting power the the GPS tracking system is usually the most difficult part. You can usually use the car’s battery. However, if you’re installing the system without the driver’s knowledge, you may want to install a dedicated battery.
Once the unit is powered up, you will insert the SIM card that came with it. The system won’t work until the SIM is installed. The SIM carries the data that the device needs to connect to the GPS network.
Once you have inserted the SIM card, the device should connect and function. You will now need to mount the device. In some cases you will want to hide the device. This would only be the case if you didn’t want the driver to know about it.
Most GPS tracking systems for vehicles will alert you via text message. That’s right, the device will text your phone and let you know where the car is. Since each system is quite different, you will need to check your specific device out to see if this is possible in your case.
Most tracking systems will also come with software that you’ll need to install on your computer. This should be as simple as inserting a CD and then running through two or three steps. Your install guide should walk you easily through this process.
